Nykøbing – the borough

Nykøbing Sjælland is the borough of the area. During the summer months and at weekends all year round, the nice pedestrian street becomes alive with large numbers of tourists from the summer cottages. A large selection of street cafés and specialized shops emphasizes the pleasant provincial environment. Among the attractions in town, there is an arts and community centre (jazz every Saturday), a theatre, a nature school and a museum of cultural history – as well as a brand new swimming pool.


Asnæs

In Asnæs, there is a large, roofed shopping centre with more than 35 shops. The town boasts a popular swimming pool as well as a museum of art and an exhibition hall for modern art. Just north of Asnæs, there is Odsherred Zoo, while south of town Ulvsborg medieval castle is being built.



Vig

Vig - in the centre of Odsherred - is famous for its barter markets (Wednesdays and Saturdays). The town also has several supermarkets to offer, as well as a shopping street, a cinema and a swimming pool.


Typically, you will find supermarkets and shops in most of Odsherred’s small villages - which is quite unusual for rural areas elsewhere.
